Come Home to a Calmer Dog

You shouldn’t have to choose between going away and worrying about your dog. Most boarding places treat dogs like they’re all the same—throw them in a room together and hope for the best. That approach works for some dogs. For others, it creates anxiety, behavioral setbacks, and exhausted owners who come home to more problems than they left with.

Our boarding works differently because we have professional dog trainers on-site. We understand that every dog has different needs, energy levels, and comfort zones. Your dog gets individual attention in a structured environment designed to keep them calm, engaged, and happy.

When you pick up your dog, you’re not getting back an overstimulated, anxious animal who needs three days to decompress. You’re getting back your dog—relaxed, content, and ready to enjoy being home with you.

Trainers First, Boarding Second

We’re K9 Mania Dog Training, and we’ve been helping Long Island dog owners solve behavioral challenges since 2020. What makes us different from other boarding facilities is simple: we’re trainers first.

While other places focus on keeping dogs busy, we focus on keeping them balanced. Our team includes professional dog trainers and kennel technicians who understand dog behavior, not just dog care. That means when your dog stays with us, they’re supervised by people who can read their body language, manage their stress levels, and respond appropriately to their individual needs.

Port Jefferson Station families choose us because they want more than just a place to drop off their dog. They want professionals who understand that every dog is different and that good boarding should leave their dog better, not just tired.

How to Prepare Your Dog for Boarding

Dog Boarding Process Port Jefferson Station

Structure That Actually Works

We start with understanding your dog’s specific needs, routine, and any behavioral considerations. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach—we want to know what makes your dog comfortable and what might stress them out.

During their stay, your dog follows a structured daily routine that includes exercise, mental stimulation, and proper rest periods. We don’t believe in letting dogs play all day until they’re exhausted. Instead, we provide balanced activities that keep them engaged without overwhelming them.

Our professional trainers monitor each dog throughout the day, adjusting activities based on their energy levels and stress signals. If your dog needs quiet time, they get it. If they thrive with more stimulation, we provide appropriate enrichment activities. You’ll receive updates on how your dog is doing, and when you pick them up, we’ll walk you through their stay and any observations we made.

What Your Dog Actually Gets

Your dog stays in our clean, well-maintained facility in Deer Park with both indoor and outdoor areas designed for comfort and safety. Every dog gets individual attention from our trained staff, structured playtime that matches their energy level, and rest periods that prevent overstimulation.

Because we’re primarily a training facility, your dog benefits from being around professionals who understand canine behavior. This means better supervision, appropriate responses to stress or excitement, and an environment that supports good behavior rather than just managing chaos.

Port Jefferson Station dog owners appreciate that we offer customizable experiences. Beyond basic boarding, you can add enrichment activities or even training sessions to help your dog learn new skills while they’re with us. We’re not just keeping your dog safe—we’re making sure their time with us is beneficial for their overall well-being and development.

Crate training helps create a safe and secure space for your dog, promoting relaxation and comfort when you're not home, aiding in housebreaking and reducing anxiety
The biggest difference is that we have professional dog trainers on-site, not just dog lovers or kennel attendants. This means your dog is supervised by people who can read canine body language, recognize stress signals, and respond appropriately to behavioral issues. Most daycare facilities focus on keeping dogs busy and tired. We focus on keeping them balanced. Your dog gets structured activities that match their individual needs and energy level, with proper rest periods to prevent overstimulation. We don’t believe in the “play until you drop” approach that leaves many dogs anxious and overwhelmed. Our facility is designed for training and behavior management first, boarding second. That translates to a calmer, more controlled environment where your dog can actually relax and enjoy their stay instead of just surviving it.
Our kennel technicians have practical, hands-on experience with dogs of all breeds and backgrounds. They work closely with our professional dog trainers, which has taught them how to read and manage dog behavior to keep everyone safe and happy.More importantly, they understand that every dog is different. They know how to recognize when a dog needs space, when they’re getting overstimulated, and how to redirect behavior before problems develop. This isn’t just about loving dogs—it’s about understanding them. Our team is led by Master Dog Trainer Elliot Rosenberg, and we maintain the same standards for boarding that we do for training. Your dog isn’t just being watched; they’re being cared for by professionals who understand canine behavior and psychology.
This is where our training background really makes a difference. We work with dogs who have behavioral challenges every day, so we’re comfortable handling anxiety, reactivity, and other issues that might make other facilities nervous. We assess each dog individually and adjust their experience accordingly. An anxious dog might need quieter activities and more one-on-one attention. A reactive dog might need careful management during social time. We don’t force any dog into situations that will increase their stress.Because we understand behavior modification, we can often help dogs make progress even during a boarding stay. We’re not just managing their issues—we’re working with them in a way that supports their overall behavioral health and gives you strategies for continued success at home.
Every dog’s day is structured but customized to their needs. We start with morning exercise and bathroom breaks, followed by breakfast if you’ve arranged feeding services. Throughout the day, your dog will have supervised playtime, mental stimulation activities, and rest periods. The key difference from other facilities is that we monitor each dog’s energy and stress levels throughout the day. If your dog is getting overstimulated, we provide quiet time. If they need more engagement, we add appropriate activities. We don’t follow a rigid schedule that ignores individual needs.Evening includes dinner, final outdoor time, and settling in for the night. Throughout their stay, our staff takes notes on how your dog is doing, what they enjoyed, and any observations that might be helpful for you to know. You’re getting professional insights, not just basic care.
Yes, all boarding dogs must be up-to-date on core vaccinations including rabies, DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza), and bordetella (kennel cough). We also require proof of current flea and tick prevention. We need to see current vaccination records before your dog’s first stay. If your dog isn’t an established client and needs vaccinations, we can recommend local veterinarians or you can schedule an appointment before their boarding dates. These requirements aren’t just policy—they’re about keeping all dogs in our facility healthy and safe. We maintain high health standards because we understand that a clean, healthy environment is essential for reducing stress and preventing the spread of illness. Your dog’s health and safety are our top priorities.
