Aggressive Dog Board and Train on Long Island

K9 Mania Dog Training’s Aggressive Dog Board and Train is a 3–6 week residential program at our Deer Park facility. It’s for dogs with human aggression, dog-to-dog aggression, resource guarding, leash reactivity or a bite history. Every case starts with a free in-person evaluation and ends with hands-on owner coaching, so you know how to maintain the training at home.

A Board and Train Program Built for Serious Aggression Cases

Not every dog trainer is equipped to work with an aggressive dog, and not every board-and-train facility should be.

K9 Mania Dog Training’s Aggressive Dog Board and Train program is a dedicated track within our Long Island facility, reserved for dogs showing human aggression, dog-to-dog aggression, resource guarding, fear-based biting, or reactivity that private lessons and other training programs haven’t resolved. Your dog boards on-site in Deer Park under the direct supervision of our team of certified professionals for the full length of the program, so behavior is addressed consistently, safely, and without the distractions of home.

If your dog has bitten, lunged at, or shown aggression toward people, other dogs, or family members, this is the program designed for that level of risk, with the safety protocols and expertise to match.

Is Your Dog a Fit for Aggressive Dog Board and Train?

Aggression shows up differently in every dog. Here are the most common reasons Long Island families bring their dogs to this program.

Human Aggression

Growling, snapping, lunging, or biting directed at strangers, guests, children, or family members.

Dog-to-Dog Aggression

Fighting, lunging, or attacking other dogs at home, on walks, or at the dog park.

Resource Guarding

Growling or snapping over food, toys, beds, or people — often escalating without intervention.

Fear-Based Aggression

Reactivity rooted in fear, past trauma, or under-socialization, especially in rescue dogs.

Leash Reactivity

Explosive lunging, barking, or pulling toward other dogs or people while on leash.

Bite History

Dogs with a prior bite incident that need structured, professional rehabilitation before returning home.

How Our Aggressive Dog Board and Train Program Works

Because aggression cases carry higher risk, this program starts with a formal evaluation and follows a more controlled structure than our standard board and train.

1
STEP 1

Free In-Depth Evaluation

We assess your dog's triggers, bite history, and behavior in person before we enroll them into our program.

2
STEP 2

Custom Behavior Plan

We build a training plan around your dog's issues, not a one-size-fits-all obedience program.

3
STEP 3

3–6 Weeks of Training

Your dog trains daily at our Deer Park facility under constant, controlled supervision with our team of certified professionals.

4
STEP 4

Go-Home & Owner Coaching

We train you alongside your dog with hands-on handoff sessions so the results hold at home and in public, not just at our facility.

What to Know Before You Enroll

Every aggression case is different. The evaluation determines whether residential training is appropriate and gives you the information needed to make a decision.

Program Length

Dogs enrolled in this program typically stay for 3–6 weeks. The program length depends on the behavior, risk level, training goals, and progress.

Pricing

You receive an exact quote after the in-person evaluation, once the K9 Mania evaluator has confirmed the program and length that best fits you and your dog.

Owner Education

Training is only as effective as your ability to maintain it at home. Consistency doesn’t end when your dog leaves our facility, which is why we train you, too, so you can support lasting progress.

Safety Comes First — For Your Dog, Our Staff, and Your Family

Aggressive dogs need more than standard boarding and obedience training. Our Deer Park facility combines experienced behavioral oversight, controlled handling, and around-the-clock supervision to provide the structure and safety these cases require.

24/7 Camera Monitoring

Two dedicated overnight staff monitor every dog around the clock.

Individual Crates

Dogs are housed and managed separately to control exposure and prevent incidents.

In-Person Evaluation

Every aggression case begins with a free in-person evaluation, so your dog’s training plan is built around their specific triggers and history.

Certified Behaviorist Oversight

Aggression cases are never handled by junior staff alone.

AGGRESSIVE DOG TRAINING FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions from Long Island owners

Pricing depends on the recommended program length, the severity and type of aggression, handling requirements, and your dog's individual plan. You receive an exact quote after the free in-person evaluation and before enrollment.

Yes. Our team is trained to handle severe aggression and has worked with hundreds of bite-history cases. We start with an in-person evaluation to understand your dog’s behavior and create the safest training plan.

Aggression cases typically run 3–6 weeks. The recommended length depends on the dog's behavior, history, training goals, and progress rather than a one-size-fits-all schedule.

Board and train is often the best option for aggression because it provides daily training, consistent structure, controlled exposure to triggers, and 24/7 supervision. We begin with an evaluation so the program can be tailored to your dog’s specific behavior and needs.

K9 Mania has helped dogs make significant progress in even severe aggression cases, but lasting results depend on owner consistency after graduation. That’s why we train you, too, and provide continued support through phone and email, refresher sessions, and advanced group classes to help you maintain your dog’s progress for life.

Every K9 Mania Board and Train program is customized to the dog. For aggression cases, training focuses more closely on the dog’s triggers, behavior patterns, safety, and responses around people or other dogs. Owners also receive hands-on education and continued support to help maintain progress after the dog returns home.

The program may use structured management tools, including a slip lead, prong collar, or e-collar, when the training team considers them appropriate. Ask during the evaluation which tools are recommended for your dog, why they are being considered, and how you will be taught to use them.

The program includes owner coaching and go-home guidance so you understand the handling, routines, warning signs, and management plan. Continued practice at home is essential because residential training does not replace the owner's role.

Call (516) 217-1604 or submit the contact form to request a free evaluation. Be prepared to describe your dog's behavior, triggers, bite history, prior training, and your goals so the team can explain the next step.
